Personal Space
Extra-curricular lesson:Personal Space (Wednesday, 11/06)
On Wednesday we had time to talk to the students about "Personal Space." We watched a video and learned about our "space bubbles" from two puppets named Stinky and Dillard. The video was a cute way to introduce this concept to our students. After we discussed the video and talked about how to talk to their friends that are in their space. NO, hitting or screaming, just say "Stop, please" or "Move back, please".
Next we could listen to a song about personal space. The song is a little difficult to sing-along to, but the kids were laughing and learning while listening to it.
Finally, the students were engaged in a game. While the music was playing, the students all had to walk around the classroom inside of their hula-hoops without bumping into their friends. The hula-hoop represented their "space bubble" that they learned about in the video. If two students bumped into each other they both had to sit down inside their hula-hoop. When the music stopped, the students that were still standing were the Personal Space Champions!
Can you see how excited the kids were with this activity? They did a good job thinking about their friends and respecting each other's space, while having fun together.
